    I work on flower metabolism. Flowers produce and accumulate many small molecules, for example, color and fragrance metabolites and also sugars that pollinators collect from the floral nectar.

    When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

    In high school, I was streamed into classical studies that, if I had continued, would have served me a career in the humanities. Those studies did not fit my personality, and by the time I finished high school, I knew I wanted to do something different. As I liked microbiology and evolution, I decided to pursue my studies in Biology. Then, I became interested in plants while studying botany. Before that, I was not aware of what plants can do and why they are so crucial for all of us. So, after having obtained a master in Molecular Biology, I decided to study more about the use of molecular techniques applied to plant science and received a second master degree in Plant Biotechnology. Then, I decided to enter graduate school and get a Ph.D. in agriculture.

    What is best about being a scientist?

    For me, the best thing about being a scientist is that I get to learn new things every day. I get easily bored by repetitive tasks and no better career than being a scientist could fit my need of learning new things
