I think the germination process depends on many factors including the type of seeds you have. What do you think about recording your observations daily? I think taking notes daily can help you a lot especially because Bethanie has started observing growth. You could therefore make a comparison of the sprout between 24hr light versus 12ht light. How long it took the seed that was exposed to 24hr light compared to those that were under light for 12 hr? The answer to this question is an important outcome variable of your experiment, in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing the results of your observations. Correct me if I am wrong but you use sunlight and Bethanie uses lamp light as an intervention? Do you think exposing plants to sunlight versus artificial light might have had an impact on the growth of your seeds? The amount of light is an important factor for seed germination but does the type of light matter too? The variations in the seed germination may be caused by the slight differences in the methodology.

Other members of our group can address your question regarding the amount of water needed for your plants. My question is that what is your hypothesis about your dependant variables (e.g., leaf count, height, etc)? Do you expect a larger number of leaves or higher heights for those treated with normal day/night? 

Also, I thought examining the germination under the observation of three individuals reduces the potential bias that can be introduced by one person. In other words, a researcher can add more water or less water (or other treatment that could affect plant growth) to get the result he/she wants. Do you agree?
