    When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

    I always excelled in science in school, but it was in AP Biology in my senior year that I realized how amazing plants are and I knew I wanted to study them.

    Do you have advice for students about preparing for a science career?

    A career in science is not limited to working inside a lab! The lab teaches you great lessons about setting up and running experiments that yield useful results, but experiments can be conducted ANYWHERE!

    What is best about being a scientist?

    Being a scientist is about seeing the world in new ways. It feels like having "insider knowledge" about how things work and relate to each other. The best part is the feeling you get when you learn or discover something new.
