  • Research Interests (300 words)
I study urban ecology, which treats cities as another ecosystem and seeks to understand the unique ways that nature works there. Specifically, my research focuses on how urban plants respond to drought at three spatial scales- the plot scale (as a field study), the city scale, and the global scale. I use satellites and drones to determine how urban plants respond to drought stress over large spatial extents and over long periods of time.

  • Do you have previous experience in mentorship or educational outreach? Please list here (200 words)
As a graduate student, I have successfully mentored a few undergrads and one high school student, who went on to present their research as a poster in an on-campus forum. I have also served as a TA to undergrad courses on a few occasions. I am new to Planting Science as of October 2019.

Hi Charlie-- it's great to hear your seed germination is going well! What plant are you trying to grow? The spiky parts would be a part of the plant, but without knowing the plant I couldn't tell you specifically what they are.
