    I am now doing a lot of spatial ecology. But I am also interested in invasive species and their shift in range; the relationship between diversity and functioning in an ecosystem; how fire ecology is important in shaping the structure of grassland ecosystems.

    When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

    I decided to further my studies as a young ecologist after going on a field course in the Philippines and to Tioman Island during my undergraduate years, because there is still so much to learn about the Nature around us and I want to gain the skills during the course of my studies to be engaged in meaningful research to finally give back to the environment.

    Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?

    Honestly, I did not expect myself to go into a science career when I was in high school!! Science lessons were very very cool and I love going about the experiments and doing some cool inventions of some sort. But I guess, having the right attitude and the desire to learn more helped to sustain and develop my interest in science!

    What is your favorite plant? Why?

    Plants from the Tillandsia genus! Or just air plants. These are really awesome since they can grow without any soil and they look so pretty! There is a great sense of achievement if you managed to care for it well and when it eventually blooms.
