    I am a landscape ecologist interested in how climate warming will impact water availability in Arctic and grassland systems.

    What is best about being a scientist?

    I love being a scientists because my job is to ask questions about the world and learn. I love exploring the environment and spending time outside, so ecology is a great fit for me!

    What is the coolest thing you have discovered or learned about plants?

    Not all plants create energy from the sun! Some plants are carnivorous and can get nutrients from digesting insects and other critters, while other plants pray on their neighbors and steal nutrients from belowground.

    Do you have advice for students about preparing for a science career?

    Anyone can be a scientist! Be curious, embrace the unknown, and always be enthusiastic. Science is creative process so people from different backgrounds can learn a lot from each other and the world.

I am glad you saw some growth! I think that your idea about those tissue treatments holding more water is a good one. There is also a possibility that the tissue made the soils a bit warmer which could also impact growth.
