  I am very interested in how plants adjust to challenges in their environment, where I specifically study how plants associate with and recruit soil microbes – like bacteria and fungi -under different conditions to potentially aid survival.

  The best thing about being a scientist is being able to explore and discover new things about the world, what all it holds, and how various phenomena we experience can arise! This pursuit of learning can take you to many beautiful places and bring so much transformation.

Hi Team!

So nice to meet you Sarah, Abigail, and Olivia! Thanks so much for your introductions - it's really nice learning about about you - and so excited to work with you on this project together! Is there something you are excited most to do or learn as you move through creating, setting up, and running your test experiments?

My name is Edi and I am really looking forward to seeing what questions you ask and discoveries you make, and helping you however I can as you move through the stages of your project! 

I am a plant scientist who studies microorganisms that associate with crop plants and how those microbes help give nutrients to the plants they interact with. Outside of research, I really love being outdoors, reading many different kinds of books from mystery and sci-fi to poetry, memoirs and beyond, and also watching movies and tv shows (like Ginny and Georgia!).

Please let me know what questions you might have about being a scientist, studying plants, college, and beyond!

Again really nice to meet you and so looking forward to working together!

Thanks so much for some updates, including adding in your responses for the above Project Information. That's very exciting to learn you have plants growing - with one already 7 inches high! It seems like too you are driving different growth substrate/materials for the corn plants to grow in - from regular soil to vermiculite?

Vermiculite is a kind of mineral (called a fun name 'phyllosilicate'!) that can help retain moisture for plants and give plant roots more access to oxygen/air to grow and breathe! 

Do you have any pictures or other descriptions of your growing setup? I'd love to see your plants growing too/any data you collect on how tall they are getting and how long you are growing them for!

Please let me know too what questions you might have at this point and thank you for any and all updates!!
