    I'm a conservation geneticist. I'm interested in genetic diversity at multiple scales. I work with many plants and ecosystems, but right now I work on prairie restoration.

    What is your favorite plant? Why?

    My favorite plant is the Bur Oak tree, Quercus macrocarpa. I also really like potatoes because French fries are one of my favorite foods.

    What is best about being a scientist?

    I get to be outside a LOT and help create beautiful landscapes.

    When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

    When I was little, I admired my aunt because she knew all the names of the plants. I wanted to know the names! Also, when she was in the field, she got to see a bear. That made being a scientist seem so cool.
