  • Profile Question 1
What is your favorite plant? Why?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
Rhizoma peanut (Arachis glabrata) is really cool because it's related to the peanuts we eat, BUT rarely makes a seed. It's planted with sprigs (plant parts) and is an excellent forage for livestock and wildlife. There are very few perennial, warm-season (summer) forage legume options in the southern USA, but this one is excellent for that purpose. It also produces some secondary compounds that help the animal use it very efficiently.

  • Profile Question 2
Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
Curious and excited. I went to an excellent high school which offered AP courses. We were able to do more hands on work and learn more in detail. I especially like my Biology class. At that time I did not think I would be a scientist, I was planning to be a teacher. However opportunities for graduate school came up at the end of my college degree, so I was able to continue my education.

  • Profile Question 3
What is best about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
I get to learn something new every single day. It's not always from my own research, it might be a discussion with a colleague or a student, or a paper I read. There is always more to learn, even after an experiment is finished it usually leads to more questions that need answering.

Very interesting!  Why do you think the opposite happened?

It is perfectly ok that you did not measure the weight in the beginning.  Your comparison would be the weight of a treated plant versus control instead of the before and after weight.  Does that make sense?
