Our Outcomes
By participating in Planting Science session in the fall of 2019, I would like to achieve the following outcomes for my 10th Grade Biology class: A. Students - To understand the steps of a scientific method through a designed hands-on experiment; - To apply active learning beyond theoretical concepts of photosynthesis; - To explain the importance of photosynthesis for the life on earth; - To provide mechanisms of photosynthesis and its real-life applications; - To collaborate with classmates/team members in order to succeed and appreciate each other?s strengths; - To learn how to correctly collect, process, interpret and share the scientific data with professionals (except teachers) and scientific community; - To enhance scientific reading and communication skills with the use of technology and electronic resources; - To gain a knowledge and skills for a future independent scientific design and experimentation. B. Instructor - To incorporate STEM concept in the Biology course and thus increase cross-disciplinary learning; - To connect Biology classroom with a professional science lab and thus enhance students? learning beyond school setting; - To introduce students to inquiry-based learning, in which they take the leadership role for experimental set-up, performance, outcome and data interpretation; - To motivate and inspire students to pursue career in science or science-related discipline; - To proof that learning and doing science can be educative and entertaining at the same time.
