I think that both the students and I will learn a lot from this program! I have never actually taught a plant science unit, so I think that I will gain a lot of science knowledge taking part in PlantingScience. I'm sure I will have questions for the scientists in addition to the kids! For the students, I love having them interact with real scientists. I think it gives the projects we do a great grounding in reality and gives them ideas of what you can do in the future beyond the unspecific "scientist." I think that all projects should be authentic, and PlantingScience gives them an automatic authentic connection to the "why" we are doing this.

What We're Doing

  • Planning to Start: 3/1/2018
  • Planning to End: 4/13/2018
  • Theme: The Wonder of Seeds (seed germination and growth)
  • Expected Breaks: Yes, we have a school break from April 2 - 6. Additionally, they will be away on a school overnight March 28-30
  • Course: General Science (6th Grade)
